Winning a PA for All of Us

Friday-Sunday, January 5-7, 2017
Akron, Pennsylvania

We are excited to announce that we are accepting applications for a 3-day (January 5-7) intensive training for emerging progressive leaders in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Application deadline: Friday, November 3rd, 11:59pm.

The potential of this precarious political moment is that everyday working people are paying more attention and looking for ways to get involved. In this moment we believe that a new generation of emerging leaders can break out of stale frameworks and false dichotomies. We believe we can build a popular movement that weaves together economic justice, racial justice, and other social justice issues; that blends resistance work and electoral work into an integrated political strategy; that works to defeat Republicans while also contesting the direction and leadership of the Democratic Party. Such a vision is the foundation for this weekend training.

The new field office of Lancaster Stands Up, part of an emergent operation in southeastern PA to turn it around in 2018 and beyond.

The main goal of the training is to develop the leadership, analysis, and practical skills of emergent progressive leaders. The training modules will provide strategic frameworks and on-the-ground organizing skills, but the retreat will also offer a structure for emerging leaders from multiple organizations in five key flippable congressional districts (PA 6, 7, 8, 15, 16) to network together and share stories, creative innovations, and best practices with each other.

Convening organizations: Beyond the Choir and Reclaim Philadelphia
